“Make America Great Again, My Ass” is a sharp, unapologetic parody music video that takes aim at the hollow nostalgia behind MAGA politics. While politicians chant about a “better past,” this video highlights the very real ways America is failing people right now — from economic inequality and crumbling infrastructure to culture wars, book bans, and the erosion of basic rights.
Set to biting lyrics and uncomfortable imagery, this parody pulls back the curtain on performative patriotism and exposes the disconnect between political slogans and lived reality. If you’re tired of being told things are “great” while wages stagnate, healthcare collapses, and democracy feels fragile, this one’s for you.
This project isn’t about hating America — it’s about refusing to accept lies, propaganda, and selective memory as patriotism. Real love for a country means holding it accountable.
Watch, share, and argue in the comments — just don’t pretend everything’s fine.

Flag on the bumper
Badge on the chest
Unmarked vans rolling
Not our brightest or best
They snatch some kid
From his own driveway
While they hide their faces
For their safety, they say
They call it order
While they gas the crowd
Turn up the sirens
Make ’em good and loud
Make America great again, my ass
I see freedom getting hauled off
Through the broken glass
You can wrap it in a slogan
Sell it en masse
But “Make America great again?” My Ass!
Suit on the camera
Hand on the lies
Says, ”It’s all perfect”
While another mother cries
Green cards gettin’ shredded
Families gettin’ split
Watch ‘em stamp that paperwork
Like they enjoy this shit
Surrounded by yes‑men
Who will lie to please
They clap on command
Do it all with ease
Do it on their knees
Make America great again, my ass
I see freedom getting hauled off
Through the broken glass
You can wrap it in a slogan
Sell it en masse
But “Make America great again?” My Ass!
Dead on the sidewalk
He shrugs, “Not me”
Sends in more muscle
On live TV
Families broken
But he smirks and grins
Says, ”We’re law and order”
While he hides his own sins
We’ll make America great again, my ass
I see freedom getting hauled off
Through the broken glass
You can wrap it in a slogan
Sell it en masse
But “Make America Great Again?” My Ass!

I just tried to write this, but I think that it got lost to cyberspace. Try once, try again. Anyway, I really appreciate parodies, whether I read them or I write them. Pardon my ignorance, but what original work are you parodying? This would give me a better appreciation. I want to share something that I wrote/compiled re MAGA:
First let me say that I believe that it is quite possible to make America great again, but that process certainly wouldn’t involve Trump. I had been wondering what the acronym ‘MAGA’ really means. On Quora, especially, I found many worthwhile interpretations. Many of these have good explanations an some fabulous commentary.
First a little history on MAGA from S. Kelley[‘s post on Quora:
“MAGA was no more than Trump’s copy of MGGA from the 1920s when Hitler used “Make Germany Great Again” as part of is Nazi MGGA for his MAGA con job on the American people. No surprise that Trump would follow in his footsteps and adapt rhe Nazi MGGA for his MAGA con job on the American people. Many have thoughtfully {in my none-too-humble opinion) likened Trump to Hitler. Apparently, Trump was a student of HItler..
The following interpretations are from Quora: I will list only a few of them.’
1. Make attorneys get attorneys.
2. Making a-holes get attornies.
3. My a$$ got arrested [That’s right, Trump.].
4.Morons are governing America
5 Manipulating America’s Gullible A-holes.
6. Make the a-hole go away.
7. From Chris Lauder: My America Going Away.
8. Douglas Fox: Morons and Gullible A-holes.
9. From Stephen Gandee: Make America Gag Again.
10. From Larry Wallace: Ban shredded cheese. Make America Grate Again. There was a picture of a cheese grater next to this one.
11 From Anna Solwesyk: Many Against Government Aid. These are the people who voted the Republican ticket who didn’t want this bill to pass [which specific bill?}, but are wiling to keep the funds. Hypocrites all
From the New Yorker:
1 Media-hungry attention-grabber.
2. Many Americans Gather Attentively
3 Manic Antagonizer== Galvanizing Anomaly?
rite
There are many fine caricatures of our 34X-conviceted Felon-In-Chief online. One of my favorite MAGA pictures was from the COVID era. The comic showed a MAGA supporter (red cap and all) in the ICU on the respirator and such. Sadly, I forgot exactly what was in the speech bubble, but the pat was on the respirator and had multiple tubes and such. Lastly, I also like my own interpretation of MAGA: Make America Goofy Again Again, what the original sont that you have parodied? I like your interpretation. .
