Poetic reflections as the nation sinks deeper each day into a hardened oligarchy while an unelected oligarch illegally and unconstitutionally deletes departments created by Congress, randomly fires essential workers, cancels contracts and payments put in place by Congress, and above all, is unable to do basic math. Only Congress can allocate and de-allocate money, and for those who didn’t take or pass Civics Class, it’s specified in the Constitution.

LYRICS for IN THE HALLS OF BABEL
by Don Caron and Ibid Anon
In the halls of Babel
There’s a storm
A tale of power
Brightly worn
No whispering willow or ancient lore
Just a storefront window
And a slamming door
Echoes of promises
Fragile and thin
A race to the bottom
The weakest win
With banners high and hollow cheer
A nation watches through a veil of fear
Who cast these dice in the game we play?
Is it the dawn or the end of the day?
Lines are drawn in shifting sand
A circus leads this troubled land
Decisions made in shadow’s light
Truths exchanged in the dark of night
Whispers of wolves in shepherd’s attire
Fanning the flames of a nation’s fire
They’re talking loud
But saying nil
Promises high on Capitol Hill
Believing lies in a carnival show
Hope sinks low as cold winds blow
Who cast these dice in the game we play?
Is it the dawn or the end of the day?
Lines are drawn in shifting sand
A circus leads this troubled land
