DOUBLING DOWN IN GEORGIA – Parody of The Devil Went Down to Georgia

Couldn’t resist writing a parody about the Governor’s race in Georgia. I’d explain why, but I think after you watch the video you’ll know why.

LYRICS to DOUBLING DOWN IN GEORGIA

The Devil was down in Georgia
for an election he could steal.
He was in a bind, falling way behind
‘cause the blue wave threat was real.

The problem was the black vote
setting at right around thirty percent.
Kemp was fired up for a big blow up
so he called on the president.

He’d purged a million voters
as Secretary of the State.
But the foul play that could win the day
had to be an “accompli fait.”

Fifty thousand voters he put on hold
right before the vote began.
It put him right on track ‘cause most were black.
That’s the type of campaign he ran.

But he had some opposition.
She had a wide progressive smile.
She’d be the first female black governor
The country’d seen in quite a while.

Stacy’s in it for the long haul and she’ll fight corruption hard,
‘cause hell’s broke loose in Georgia and the Devil deals the cards.
And if she wins the cheating stops.
She’ll kick out that asshole,
But if she loses, Georgia’s lost its soul!

The night of the election came,
Kemp said that he had won.
She said not so quick with your little trick
until the vote count is all done.

But the devil wasn’t worried.
The devil does this all for fun.
He just refused to be recused
and blamed her for what he’d done

Corruption points its finger
As a tactic of defense,
to divert the blame and then proclaim
the success of the pretense

The election’s come but it ain’t gone.
It’s gonna keep goin’ on and on.
A battleground for the Georgian soul
in a war to keep the country whole.

She’s the one they’re gonna need
to bring fairness to that state,
to buy new machines to count the beans
2020 will be too late.

The pendulum swings back and forth
but they stopped it in it’s path.
Politics is not the fix
and you don’t wanna see the aftermath.

Stacy’s in it for the long haul and she’ll fight corruption hard,
’cause hell’s broke loose in Georgia and the Devil deals the cards.
And if she wins the cheating stops she’ll kick out that asshole,
But if she loses, Georgia’s lost its soul!

Some folks I know got hooked on phonics.
I am hooked on your histrionics.
    Your lyrics? Original…
    but not primordial!
They rock the world like huge tetonics.
